Don’t underestimate doormats. Most of the dirt that gets inside your home comes from the outdoors. The bulk of it comes in unnoticed on your shoes that don’t appear to be either muddy nor dirty. Use doormats at every entrance of your home, both inside and out to help stop dirt in its tracks - or more specifically, on the soles of your shoes.
Wash your mats. Sometimes, all your doormat needs is a good shake to remove the grime. However, over time, it will get extremely dirty - scrub it with liquid soap and hose it down with warm water.
Create a shoe-free zone. Encourage your family and friends to take off their shoes before entering your home. They will understand and respect your decision to keep your home clean and your floors spotless - just make it easy for them to oblige your wishes (a shoe rack or a basket works).
Be mindful of your furry friends. People aren’t the only ones with dirty soles! Before your pet returns from playing outside, wipe their paws and dry off their fur. This will keep your home clean and your pet cozy!
