Winter Cleaning Tips

Somehow your home seems significantly more dirty and unorganized in the winter. So with temperatures being as frigid as they are, take an afternoon to freshen up your space. Here are a few essential spots in the home to cater to:

Organize the pantry. Reorganize all contents in your pantry and cabinets by taking out spices, checking expiration dates, and reorganizing. Consider purchasing organizational tools such as a Lazy Susan or mason jars to separate all of your food items.

Go through your closets.
With all those bulky sweaters and coats you have hanging in your closet, chances are your closet is overflowing. Clean things up by taking out all of your clothes and creating a Yes and No pile. Donate what you don’t wear and keep those that you wear most frequently. Rule of thumb: if you haven’t worn it in months, chances are you probably won’t.

Dust. From lamp shades to light bulbs and coffee tables, there’s probably a lot of dirt and dust from your forced heating system. By dusting these areas in your home, you can significantly improve air quality and create a cleaner space.

Clean your floors. For those areas of the home that receive a lot of foot traffic, clean them up by vacuuming or wiping up dirt and water spots. A professional cleaning is probably the most efficient way to clean your floors (and get them smelling fresh).

No matter what type of flooring you have in your home, the textile specialists at Triple S are here to help! We offer many professional cleaning services, including oriental and area rug, wall to wall carpet, drapery and valance, as well as tile, grout, and stone. Keeping Home Clean from Pets

We can’t help but forgive our four legged friends when they make a mess in the home. But at the end of the day, those accidents need to be cleaned up one way or another. Below are a few tips to not only help you wipe up the mess from an incident, but also help you prevent one:

Place food properly - A common solution to keep your home clean from pets is to set up their food and water dishes on tile or hardwood flooring. If an accidental spill occurs on carpet, it can be tricky to wipe up. Not to mention, they can leave many crumbs behind if they have a habit of feasting on the living room rug.

Clean Instantly
- It’s crucial to immediately clean up accidents as soon as they occur. Not only do accidents smell foul, but they can also leave a permanent stain behind - one that can easily be avoided. If you have a kitten or puppy at home alone and are hesitant that they could have an accident, try creating a playpen for them in the kitchen, as tile and wood is often easier to clean up.

Replace pet furniture - Replace cat and dog beds often or as soon as you notice a visible and permanent stain. You can also try these expert spot removal tips. But if your bed is over old or is torn up, consider replacing it immediately.

Professional cleaning - Choose in-plant cleaning for all your rugs that either have tough-to-reach stains or need freshening up. Not only will your carpet smell clean afterwards, but all of your carpet’s deep fibers will also be rinsed and cleaned. The same goes for your upholstery as well!

At Triple S, we offer several cleaning services to restore your carpets, drapes, and upholstery once more! We are a family owned business with over 50 years of experience and are here to help you keep your home looking and feeling Clean, Fresh, & Bright no matter how messy your furry friends might be!

Advantages of Wood Flooring

Carpet or hardwood - which do you choose? Although there’s no clear cut answer, there’s no doubt that hardwood floors add quality to your home. Curious to know about the other perks? Read on:

 Easy to clean
One of the biggest benefits of hardwood flooring is that it’s easy to sweep up, simply by using a damp cloth with warm water. And as for stains, they certainly don’t absorb the way they do to your upholstery.

Durable
Hardwood not only looks beautiful in the home, but it’s also extremely durable. This means it is able to withstand wear and tear, and many types are resistant to scratches. So when it comes to cleaning your home, you know that with hardwood flooring, you will have minimal maintenance to manage.

Timeless
Whether you add a glossy finish to your hardwood floors or keep it rustic, it creates a timeless look - especially when you choose a more neutral oak color. For as long as you install a high quality, engineered flooring and take good care of it, you can expect your floor to stay in excellent shape for a long time.

No matter what type of flooring you have in your home, the textile specialists at Triple S are here to help! We offer many professional cleaning services, including oriental and area rug, wall to wall carpet, drapery and valance, as well as tile, grout, and stone. And don’t forget, for any and all accidental spills, turn to Triple S for spot removal tips and products. Caring for Your Rugs

Area and oriental rugs are a beautiful addition to any home. They also receive a lot of foot traffic depending on where they are in your home. That being said, wouldn’t it be beneficial to increase their lifespan? Taking care of them is easy! Here are a few key tips to remember:

Remove stains immediately
When an accident occurs, the key is to remove the stain as quickly as possible. And although your instinct might be to rub the stain away, the trick is to blot instead. Use a green cleaner without the harsh chemicals, apply to the area, and blot from the outside working towards the center.

Vacuum often
Vacuuming might sound like an obvious solution to keeping your rugs clean, but it’s often the most forgotten. Save yourself time down the road by vacuuming about once per week. This should eliminate most of the dust, allergens, and pollutants in your home.

Repair when needed
Sometimes your area rugs can get worn and torn from old age, foot traffic, as well as pets. Before a small tear becomes worse, be sure to call you local carpet cleaning experts to repair and reweave. Such repairs also include edging, as well as fringe repair and binding.

In plant cleaning
The smartest solution for increasing the lifespan of your rugs is to have them professionally cleaned. When you choose in-plant cleaning, textile specialists can determine the best cleaning method, wash and dry safely, remove tough stains, and groom for a final touch.

At Triple S, we offer rug repair, in-plant cleaning, pickup and delivery, as well as other special treatments and protection. To learn more about these services, visit us on the web. #TipTuesday | Cleaning Bathroom Tile & Grout

With all the constant use your bathroom gets on a daily basis, why not keep it clean as can be? Whether you have natural stone or ceramic tile in the bathroom, here are a few tips to help you keep everything looking spotless:

Scrub & Rinse - Cleaning your shower stall or countertops with a chemical solution? Be sure you scrub well and rinse with clean water, as to not leave a greasy film behind. For your shower stalls, simply retract your showerhead and rinse or use a wet cloth if yours isn’t removable.

Clean Weekly - Scrubbing your shower and countertops isn’t exactly what you want to do on your day off, but just think about how fresh your bathroom will feel! Take even just a few minutes to clean dirt from your bathroom tiles each week or every other week. Not only will your bathroom look fresh, but it will also help to eliminate mold and mildew.

Go Pro - Try professional stone and tile cleaners, like the Fusion Every Day Cleaner for stone and tile from Triple S. This is an ideal, streak free cleaner that is safe for all your natural stone, tile, and grout surfaces - effective for countertops, backsplashes, and shower walls. Did we mention how great it smells too?

Of course, the best way to get a spotless bathroom is to hire a professional grout and tile cleaning company. Christmas Tree Stain Removal Tips

We sure do love the smell of holiday pine from Christmas trees, but sometimes they can leave a mess behind. If you've already removed your Christmas tree only to discover stains on your carpet, here's what to do:

First thing to know is that there are three different types of stains:
  • Sap from your tree
  • Dye from tree skirts
  • Dirty water stains from leaky tree stands
Second thing to know is how to remove these stains:

Sap - Moisten a white towel with rubbing alcohol. Blot the sappy stain and continue until sap is completely removed.

Dye - Blot with rubbing alcohol and a white towel until no more color transfers to the towel. Then, use a diluted mixture of mild liquid detergent and blot. Avoid rubbing, as this can distort the fibers in your carpet. Any dye remaining? You may need to call a professional carpet cleaner.

Dirty Water - Blot up all excess water. Clean with a diluted mixture of mild liquid detergent and blot until no more soil is transfer to the towel. To dry, cover with 1 half layer of white toweling and weight it down with a book. The remaining moisture will pick up into the toweling.

Of course, the number one way to be stain-free is to prevent it in the first place! So next year, place a towel underneath your Christmas tree to act as a barrier between your tree and your floor.
