3 Secrets to Having a Chic Home

Making your home look chic doesn’t have to cost a fortune. All you need are a few simple changes, so consider these three easy tips to create an expensive look on a dime!

Choose the right colors. Stick to a neutral color scheme if you want to create a chic, expensive look. From gray to brown to white, there are plenty of shades you can choose from. Neutral colors look clean and are an excellent way to create a chic, sophisticated-looking home. Plus, you risk the chance of color-clashing. Bonus tip: add splashes of bold colors if you’re going for a more regal design.

Add a little texture. Without texture, a room can feel dull and uninviting. However, purchasing one or two statement pieces can bring more dimension into your home. For example, a sheepskin blanket paired with a leather couch or a wool rug layered on top of a wooden floor can make your living space look like a million bucks, when it really only costed you very little!

Declutter.
When your beautiful home is filled with piles of mail, clothes, and boxes, it can look a bit messy. What you want to do in this case is get rid of all the unnecessary items laying around and make the space look as open as possible. Why? Because negative space says a lot when it comes to creating a chic home. In a sense, it makes your home feel more airy, which makes for a more sophisticated look.

Let Your Bedroom Breathe

With layers and layers of fabric, it’s easy for a bedroom to get stuffy. But now that Fall has arrived, we can finally catch a breath of fresh air. And while opening the windows is one way to let your bedroom breathe, there are a few other things you can do to declutter:

Get rid of the TV. Television can be distracting in a not-so-good way. Not only does it ruin a peaceful sleep, but it can also keep you from exploring other hobbies like reading.

Move your laundry. If your bedroom is on the smaller side, it’s best you find another location in the house to store your laundry basket. While clothing can easily catch dust, it also adds on piles of unnecessary clutter, which can be distracting when all you want to do is relax.

Remove extra furniture. Do you have a vanity or side table that you don’t use? While furniture can be nice to look at, sometimes less is more. If you feel you can get rid of what’s lying around in these drawers, you might easily be able to create more space in your bedroom (and more room to breathe).

Eliminate pillows. If heaps of pillows are making it harder to crawl in and out of bed, you might want to consider taking a few pillows away. Instead, try streamlining your bed’s look so that it’s functional, but still looks appealing.

While you’re emptying out your space, don’t forget to keep it Clean Fresh & Bright! At Triple S, we are dedicated to helping you keep your home spotless and dust-free with our carpet, upholstery, and drapery cleaning! Triple S is a family owned business with over 50 years of experience.

How to Cut Down on Cleaning Time

Love having a clean home, but don’t want to spend hours cleaning? We’ve got you covered! Below area few expert tips to help you tidy up your house in no time:

Clean from top to bottom.
If you want to cut back on cleaning time, start at the top and work your way down. That way, you won’t have to clean your floors twice from crumb droppings or water spatters.

Don’t wait too long. Cleaning up as you go can make a tedious chore a little bit easier. For example, don’t let dirty dishes and utensils fill up the sink - if you do, you’ll be putting a lot more time into cleaning than necessary. Little by little is the way to go!

Fold the laundry. Do your clean clothes keep piling up? If so, make it a new habit to fold and put away your laundry each week. Doing so can make cleaning quick and easy when there are other tasks to do.

Store clutter at the door. Keep your house tidy by using a closet and shoe rack at the front entry. Hang up hats, jackets, gloves, toys, and even store your mail. You’ll be happy you stashed your belongings away before entering the living room.

How to Make Your Old Deck New Again in 4 Steps

Now that September is in full swing, take a little time during this beautiful weekend to clean up your deck. Below, we’ve put together four steps to help you make sure your outdoor space looks fresh before fall arrives:

Step 1. Sweep up debris. It’s much easier to clear your deck before hosing it down, as water causes everything to stick. So the first thing you want to do is grab a broom and sweep up any dirt or leaves that cover the surface.

Step 2. Water your plants. Once you’ve swept away the debris, grab your garden hose and water the plants and vegetables that surround your deck. When you take care of your plants, you can bring your outdoor space to life again, especially if things are starting to look brown.

Step 3. Tackle stains. Getting rid of stains can be tricky, especially because different decks are built out of different materials. But whether your deck is made of wood or concrete, there are several solutions to help you out. For example, wood brighteners are great for cleaning wood, while all-surface cleaners are ideal for concrete.

Step 4. Wet the surface. After you’ve cleared away debris, watered your landscape, and taken care of stains, you’ll want to give your deck a good washing. Grab a wet mop and some dish soap. Squirt a few drops of soap and scrub the surface well. Lastly, water it down to wash away the soap.

Part of getting your deck ready for fall means making your old and worn deck look brand new! Another part is making sure you store away your summer furniture. If you have outdoor patio cushions that you want to stow away, call Triple S! We will thoroughly clean your cushions and repair or even replace foam if desired. Then, we will store them in a clean, dry warehouse and have them ready for pickup or delivery the week you want them in spring.

Things You Should Never Vacuum

Vacuums might seem powerful enough to pick up just about anything. However, there are a few items that could in fact ruin your household appliance. To avoid damage, here are a few items you should never vacuum:

Glass. When a wine glass or a dish breaks, your first instinct is probably to grab the vacuum and suck up the mess. But if you do, you can possibly puncture the bag inside your vacuum and scratch the interiors. The best alternative in this case is to grab a broom instead.

Soggy food. Not only is it dangerous for electrical devices to get close to moisture, but your vacuum is also not built to efficiently pick up anything wet. So whether it be pet food or spilled cereal, you're better off grabbing a paper towel to clean it up.

Coins. Avoid vacuuming copper, nickel, or anything in between. When you roll over pennies or even paper clips, you risk them getting caught in the rotating brush or breaking off other pieces inside your vacuum. Picking them up with your hands or a broom is a better idea.

Dust particles. If you’ve recently finished construction in your house, skip vacuuming the tiny dust particles remaining. Instead, you’ll need a bit of a stronger appliance, so call your local carpet and flooring cleaning service if you don’t have the proper machinery at home to get the job done.

If you’re looking for a professional cleaning to pick up some of the things that the average vacuum can’t, then call the experts at Triple S! Easy Ways to Upgrade Your Bedroom

Fall is almost here - the perfect time to cozy up your bedroom! Looking for a few easy ways to turn your space into a relaxing retreat? Get inspired by these four ideas:

Go big with a headboard. Want to easily transform your ordinary bedroom into a luxurious, boutique hotel room? All you need is a tall headboard with lots of detail to make your bed the eye-catching focal point of your space! Make sure the fabric is high-quality and has a unique silhouette to it!

Hang chandeliers. Nightstand lamps are a great option for lighting up a room, but hanging tiny, crystal chandeliers on each side of your bed can make your space look even more glamorous and bright. Not to mention, chandeliers can also transform your bedroom from ordinary to extraordinary without breaking the bank!

Add extra throws. There’s almost no better feeling than diving onto a bed covered with extra pillows and throw blankets - so layer them on! Don’t be afraid to mix and match. For example, a paisley patterned duvet looks great with a solid throw and geometrical shaped pillows.

Window Treatments. Bare windows are the best way to attract light. However, adding sheer, flowy window treatments can soften up the look of your bedroom, while still inviting lots of sunlight in! If you’d rather add a little more privacy, opt for linen window treatments that can easily swing open when the autumn air is breezy outside.

Fall Color Trends to Add to Your Home

Fall is the perfect time to cozy-up your home! From chocolate brown to burnt orange, we are falling in love with these rich autumn hues. Here are four colors to look out for and how to incorporate them into your home:

Bronze. Transform your dining area into an elegant retreat by adding bronze hues from top to bottom! Start with a regal, bronze-patterned wallpaper and long draperies. And don’t forget to tie in a touch of warmth by adding a red and orange floral arrangement in the center of your dining table!

Red. Not only does the color red tie your cozy dining room together, but it also makes for an inviting bedroom. Because red hues are especially vibrant, opt for a neutral wall color and place red accents everywhere else. For example, adding a red headboard, a beige and red nightstand, and complimentary window treatments can have your room ready for fall in no time!

Brown. Chocolate brown is another color that makes us feel like cuddling up when the leaves start to fall. So, take this hue to your living area by incorporating light-wood bookshelves, a brown leather couch, and an oriental rug with a blend of light and dark shades. This color works especially well if your home is more on the traditional side.

Pumpkin. We can’t think of a better color to represent the fall season! Adding shades of pumpkin to any space is easy - all you need are splashes of muted orange mixed in with deep brown and gray tones. Pumpkin colored pillows and lanterns are both great ways to create a bedroom oasis!
