Homemade and Natural Cleaning Products

You don’t have to spend hours in the cleaning supplies aisle any longer. With only three ingredients (all of which you can find in your pantry), you can clean, disinfect, and remove any stain that hits your home!

Vinegar

Vinegar can clean almost anything just as well as store-bought cleaners. Mix a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle. You can use this to clean your bathtub toilet, sink, stove, and even your clothes!

Lemon Juice

Try mixing lemon juice with vinegar or baking soda to make a paste. Then, cut a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the cut section of the lemon. Use the lemon to scrub dishes, surfaces, and stains. But be careful — lemon juice can act as a natural bleach as well.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is actually one of the most versatile cleaners. And it’s also a great deodorizer, too! Place it in your fridge, trash can, or even your smelly sock drawer!

To prevent permanent stains, follow these basic rules for spills and spot removal:

1. Immediately blot up spills.
2. Pretest spot removal formulas in an inconspicuous area of the fabric.
3. Do not overwet. Work with small amounts of formulas and blot frequently.
4. Work from the outer edge toward the center of the stain.
5. Have patience – some stains respond slowly.
6. Remember, haphazard attempts at spot removal may result in indelible stains and/or permanent damage to fabrics.

4 Cleaning Mistakes You're Probably Making

We know cleaning your house isn’t at the top of your favorite things to do. But, it’s a necessity — if you want to avoid germ buildup, clutter, and colds that is. Make these four changes to your cleaning routine and we promise you’ll tidy up quickly and more efficiently.

#1: Putting off Cleaning Jobs

Do you clean all of your dishes right after you’re done cooking or do you leave them all for the next morning — which turns into the next day, and so on.

#2: Starting at the Wrong Spot in a Room

Most of us barely want to clean to begin with. So don’t start in the wrong spot — it’ll double your cleaning time! First, declutter the room, then begin cleaning at the top of the room and work your way down (tip: clean the floor last!).

#3: Using the Wrong Cleaning Products

Read labels carefully and follow the directions for the best results. If you end up using the wrong product, you can end up permanently damaging some of your surfaces. Check out some of our top-of-the-line cleaning products, here.

#4: Using Dirty Cleaning Tools

If you’re using a cleaning tool you haven’t cleaned in quite some time, you could end up doing more harm than good. Kitchen sponges are a breeding ground for bacteria, and you could end up spreading the germs and soil around. Take time to wash cleaning cloths, scrubbing brushes, and vacuum filters between every use.

At Triple S, we offer professional cleaning services, including rug, carpet, upholstery, and tile cleaning. We are a family owned business with over 50 years of experience and are here to help you keep your home looking and feeling Clean, Fresh, & Bright!

A Guide To Cleaning Every Possible Halloween Mess

Halloween doesn’t just scary the little kids, it’s also a nightmare for your home! But don’t fear — we have a way for you to undo all the spooky disasters this holiday brought upon your home. Use each of the cleaning agents on the stained area in the order indicated until the stain is removed.

Colored hair spray and makeup: 1, 2, 3
Fake blood: 2, 3, 5
Chocolate: 2, 3, 4, 5
Egg: 2, 3, 5
Food coloring: 2, 3
Soft drinks: 2, 3, 4
Ink: (use alcohol) 1, 2, 3

1. Apply a small amount of dry cleaning solvent or alcohol (available at grocery, drug and hardware stores). Use small amounts to prevent any possible damage to sizing, backings, or stuffing materials. Do not use gasoline, lighter fluid or other flammables.

2. Mix one teaspoonful of white neutral detergent (a mild liquid dishwashing detergent containing no strong alkalies or bleaches) with a cup of lukewarm water.

3. Mix one tablespoon of household ammonia with a half cup of water.

4. Mix one-third cup of white household vinegar with two-thirds cup of water.

5. Mix a solution of powdered enzyme laundry detergent following label or box directions. Allow the solution to remain on the stain for the length of time recommended by the manufacturer.
NOTE: Never mix ammonia and bleach during the cleaning operation.

Some stains require special professional care. If the stain is not removed by a prescribed household method, consult a professional cleaner.
