The Right Way to Clean Your Drapes

Drapery cleaning is one of the most overlooked household chores. But just think: you open the window and all this pollen comes flying through. Where does it go? For the most part, your drapes act as a shield for the rest of your home, so it’s important that you clean them regularly.

It might come as a shock, but cleaning your flowy drapes are easier to do when hung as opposed to laying out flat. Now, what exactly is the best cleaning method? We’re glad you asked!

Vacuum with the correct nozzle.
Just like your carpets, your drapes need to be vacuumed too. But yes, there is a wrong way to vacuum your window treatments! The best results, take out your dusting brush nozzle, which can easily brighten your textile and remove dust. This nozzle won’t tug too tightly on your drapes, but it will remove the dirt and dust.

Hire a Professional
Sometimes vacuuming isn’t enough to remove tough dirt and stains. Perhaps the task is just too big to fit into your busy schedule. No matter the reason, no problem - you can hire a professional to get the job done efficiently and quickly. At Triple S, we are all experienced experts on all drapery. What we will do is revive the color, maintain the still and perfectly shaped folds, while assuring exact length and perfect hemlines (whether we clean draperies in our plant or in your home).

Creating a WOW Factor White Room

Think an all white room is too dull or stressful to maintain? White is one of those colors many homeowners shy away from when in fact it is the most welcoming color you can decorate with. And while this monochromatic look might seem simple, there are a few tips to help you achieve that “WOW” factor:

Start with a blank slate
Don’t be intimidated by an all-white room. Instead, look at is as a canvas - an opportunity for you to find what inspires you.

Use white in the kitchen
We can’t think of a more perfect way to let your modern or traditional style shine through with ultra white lacquer finished countertops and white wooden cabinets. Homeowners love this look because it’s both timeless and classic!

Create a combination
Ever notice how pairing contrasting colors such as white, black, gray, and brown look so luxurious? Whether it be the kitchen or living room, pair stainless steel or metallic finishes with brass, copper, and gold - these metallics pair great with the crispness of white.

Say “yes” to white upholstery
Thinking white upholstery is harder to keep clean? While this might be true, place white furniture in places where you’re likely to have less traffic. You can also consider a faux leather, faux suede, or slipcover material for pet and kid friendly spaces.

Warm things up
If your room is lacking personality or that “cozy” feel, consider layering whites in similar shades or warm whites, ivory, gray, and beige. Play with textures to add more depth to your space and throw on ceiling to floor cream colored window treatments to add more warmth and height.

For all of your white interiors, keep them clean with Triple S services. We are a family owned and operated carpet, upholstery, and drapery company with many more services available to homeowners and business owners. Cut the tape into two 9 inch lengths

How To Match Your Drapes With Your Flooring

So you’re designing a newly remodeled room and everything is almost finished. You’ve laid down flooring, picked out the furniture, and brought it all together with accent pieces. But one thing thing is missing - your drapes of course! Matching these with the style of your room can be a task in itself. Here are a few stylistic tips to complimenting your drapes with your flooring.

Staying Neutral
Colors are very important when it comes to constructing a good image for your room. After all, you wouldn’t pair green with bright purple, right? In this example, remaining neutral is critical to creating a comfy environment for not only you, but your guests as well. Black. brown, beige and white are great neutral colors that not only pair well with most flooring colors, but can help greatly by blocking natural sunlight if needed!

Color Families
Unless you play for the Lakers, pairing highlighter yellow and bright purple probably isn’t the best combination. When it comes to keeping your room aligned with one style, stay with the same color in different shades. For example, dark blue drapes would pair very well with sky blue accents such as an area rug. Keeping this in mind can also assist in finding things to add as a tasteful decoration!

Patterns Are Key
It may not seem like a big deal, but a diamond quilted pattern probably won’t match too well with a floral print. Instead, shoot for things that are in the same family as the other. For example, if you can find striped drapes, pairing them with striped throw pillows can completely change the appearance of the room. It’s exciting to think about how much more inviting your room can be with subtle changes like this!

Your Fall Cleaning Checklist

As the leaves start to change colors, we’re reminded that it’s time to do a little cleaning up at home. To make your space feel cozy for the fall and winter months, there are a few tips that can help. Read on to get started:

Switch up the sheets. Silk sheets and lightweight quilts are ideal for summer. But when the temperatures get chilly it’s time to swap those out for flannel sheets and feather down duvets. The heavier the sheets, the better night’s sleep you will get. But if you love your quilt and don’t want to stow it away, you can always fold it up at the head of the bed just in case you need an extra layer!

Dust your blinds and baseboards.
Your blinds and baseboards collect a lot of dust and allergens throughout the warmer months. So if you haven’t done so already, go around the house and clean them with a vacuum before the first cold day. By skipping this step, you can cause your heating system to blow the dust around, which can cause lots of discomfort.

Sweep the chimney. If you have a fireplace in the home, it’s a good idea to get a professional inspection and cleaning before using it. This can ensure that there’s no debris or hazard to pose a threat to your home and your family.

Vacuum regularly. It’s common for the home to get dusty when you turn the heat on, which is why it’s important to vacuum. To keep your home feeling clean, try to vacuum as often as you can - a weekly cleaning can help immensely! Bonus tip: by using an upholstery attachment for your furniture, you can protect delicate material from getting sucked in the nozzle.

For optimal results, add professional cleaning to the list! At Triple S, we offer expert carpet, drapery, and upholstery cleaning to help you get your home ready for fall. We are a family owned business with over 50 years of experience. We have three main plant locations:
