Benefits of ProSeal Fabric Protector

Furniture can be expensive, and nothing ruins it faster than a wine or ketchup stain from your backyard barbecue. Protect your investment by using the Triple S ProSeal Fabric Protector!

Here are three ways it can benefit your indoor and outdoor cushions:

Protects against spills. Accidental spills happen, but that doesn’t mean they have to stain. The way the Triple S ProSeal system works is that it deeply penetrates the surface of textiles, providing improved fade resistance, color fastness, and abrasion resistance. Most importantly, it resists against those common accidents!

Defends fibers. ProSeal can defend fibers by creating a bonded seal that surrounds each individual fiber, which protects it from top to bottom! No more worrying about discoloration or texture changes from drinks and even stormy weather.

Preserves value and appearance. Because this fabric protector is absorbed so well and bonds fiber strands together, you can rest assured that it will survive accidents and rainfalls. From upholstery to oriental rugs and other textiles, such as velvet, suede, wool, silk, cotton, rayon, nylon, and bamboo, you can feel good knowing that all your favorite furnishings will be protected!

Use ProSeal with confidence to keep all your indoor and outdoor furniture fresh for a long time to come! From upholstery to rugs and drapes, Triple S’s protective formula will ensure that your summer furnishings stays clean all summer long. Top Flooring Solutions to Keep Your Home Cool in Summer

As temperatures spike on the East Coast, we bet you’re looking for ways to beat the heat! With that being said, we know that coming home after a long hot day to a cool floor beneath your feet is one way to do it- did you know that the floors in your home can make a huge difference in the way you feel?

As your Fairfield and Westchester County flooring experts, we’ve put together the following list of top flooring solutions to help you keep cool in your home this season:

White rugs. If you already have a white carpet in your house, you’re in luck! But don’t worry if you don’t if you don’t - there are plenty of lightweight oriental alternatives you can use. White rugs are an ideal option for the summer because they don’t absorb as much heat. So roll out your lighter rug for the warmer season and let Triple S store your darker one until winter comes around again.

Hardwood. One of the most popular flooring options out there is a hardwood surface. This type of floor is ideal for those that attract more sunlight in the summer. Why? Because hardwood doesn’t absorb heat the way carpets do! Ever notice how cold the soles of your feet feel on natural hardwood? If you’ve experienced this, you now know what makes it a top flooring solution for the summer.

Tile.
Similar to hardwood, tile flooring options don’t reflect the heat in your home. Stone, marble, and ceramic are perfect examples of cool surfaces you should think about installing in your home. The great thing about tile is that you can put a rug down for added warmth when you need it, which makes it a beneficial choice all year round!

Once you’ve decided on the right floor for your home this summer, make sure to keep it clean all season long! How to Clean Everything White

Don’t let dirt and spills make you shy away from that white couch or carpet you always wanted! Summer is the time for crisp colors and designs, but between parties and the kids spending more time outdoors, it may be more difficult to keep the house looking clean and fresh.

Below is your guide to making sure everything in your house stays as white as the first day you bought it:

Upholstery. The best method for cleaning your couches and chairs is to apply fabric protection treatments. It’s designed to prevent everything from spilled glasses of wine to grass stains from settling. As a bonus tip, always remember to test a new stain removal method in a hidden spot before tackling more visible areas. When in doubt, call you local textile specialists to take care of the job!

Towels. It’s easy for your towels to get dirty, even after you wash them. So how do you keep them perfectly white? You should first read the tag on your towels to confirm that it’s safe to use chlorine bleach on them. If the label says yes, then you may proceed, but don’t forget that less is more! Just because your towels are extra dirty, doesn’t mean using more bleach is the answer.

Sheets. There’s no better feeling than falling asleep on plush, white bedding - let’s make sure they look and smell fresh all year round! It may surprise you, but washing white sheets with chlorine bleach is a big no-no. Why? Because when you bleach your bedsheets, you’re ultimately breaking down the fibers, which is the last thing you want to do. Instead, use an oxygen-based stain remover to make them stay bright as new!

Carpets. White carpets look beautiful in a home, but it’s important to take good care of them so they last for years to come. If you spill a drink on your white carpet, take immediate action. And during summer rainstorms, lay out clean mats and take off your shoes at the front door!

Tile Floor FAQs

When was the last time you accidentally splattered tomato sauce all over your kitchen floor? Have you ever spilled soap in the bathroom while washing up? If this has happened to you, don’t worry - we’re here to help! As your Fairfield and Westchester County cleaning experts, we’ve compiled a list of three FAQ’s to put your mind at ease about stains and spills on your tile floor:

Where is my tile most likely to get dirty?
To put it simply: the bathroom and the kitchen! It’s easy for your grout to quickly absorb all the humidity, mildew, and soap scum your bathroom is susceptible to. And while you may not have to worry about mildew in the kitchen, be wary of food spills and cooking oils! Already had a spilling accident? Let the textile specialists at Triple S help you get your grout to sparkle again!

Why does my tile grout stain?
Most people don’t realize that the grout lines between their tile or all natural stone floors are very porous. In other words, it’s easy for spills to seep through the lines between tile - especially if yours is white! If you want to camouflage any dirt, your best bet is to opt for darker grout. However, if you’ve already installed a light color grout, a professional sealing can keep your floors protected!

How often should I clean my tile?
We recommend that you get a professional cleaning and sealing every 12 to 24 months, which of course depends on how often you’re in the room. For every cleaning you schedule with Triple S, we give you a fresh bottle of Balance Neutral PH Cleaner so you can take matters into your own hands and keep floors looking fresh and sealed all year round! Of course, you should still call the experts for the best results.

How to Choose the Perfect Window Treatments

Need an easy way to redecorate your home in time for summer? Just add new curtains! Window treatments are an easy way to spruce up your living space and highlight your interior designing style. Choosing a perfect length and fabric for your drapes can be tricky, but don’t worry - we’ve got you covered! Here are four popular types of window treatments:

Brushing. One of the most current trends? Two long columns that frame your window. This style is all about adding height to your walls, so the longer your curtains are, the higher your curtain rod should sit! If you’re not sure which fabric to choose, take a look around the room and determine how formal or casual it feels. Cotton, for example, gives more of a casual vibe as opposed to velvet. However, this is really a matter of preference.

Puddling. If you’re not much into the tailored style, try puddling your window treatments - perfect for an elegant appeal! Depending on the height of your ceilings, mount the curtain rod somewhere between 84 and 90 inches high. Placing the rods at this height will give you extra fabric to play with along the floor!

Pleated. Pleated drapes are a clean look for any home! These window treatments gather together to create such a beautiful wavy effect that it’s no wonder so many hotels and restaurants use them too! And because these curtains are clipped onto rings that wrap around the rod, they’re so convenient to swing open when you want a little extra sunlight!

Hemmed. Who ever said drapes need to be long? Hem them up instead! Shorter window treatments tend to give off a more casual feel, especially if you use lightweight fabric, like cotton or muslin. To give you a rough idea of how short these curtains should hang, think about 63 inches long.

Which window treatments are your favorite? Tell us on our Facebook page.

If your curtains are in need of a deep cleaning, contact the textile specialists at Triple S! Professional cleaning methods include dry cleaning, wet cleaning, and washing. Draperies are then pressed, sized, and returned to you with new pins, exact length and perfect hemlines.

Pros and Cons of Tile Type

Looking to update your kitchen or bathroom this summer? With thousands of colors and styles to choose from, deciding on a new tile floor can feel a bit overwhelming. And while walking into a showroom can be inspiring, you may not be sure where to start. From durability to design, we understand you want to pick the option that’s right for you. In an attempt to help, we’ve compiled a list of pros and cons to some of the most popular tile types on the market:

Ceramic Tile - a glazed mixture of clay, minerals, and water.
Pros: The best thing about ceramic tile is that it’s affordable, durable, and easy to install. Not to mention, this type of tile has plenty of colors and designs from which to choose.
Cons: Ceramic is beautiful yet can be costly, so if you’re looking to add new tile to your most busy area in the house, you may want to opt for another option, like porcelain.

Porcelain Tile - a dense type of ceramic tile.
Pros: We said that porcelain tile is a great option for those high traffic areas in the home. What we didn’t yet mention is that porcelain is also easy to clean and also comes in a variety of different styles.
Cons: Conversely, this tile type requires a special adhesive to adhere “non-porous materials”. To avoid choosing the wrong one, call the experts at Triple S for assistance!

Cement Tile - a beautifully handmade tile made of natural materials.
Pros: Cement tile is a stunning option that is resilient, making it an ideal flooring option. Once again, this tile has an array of bold patterns.
Cons: Cement tile is prone to damage by acid and harsh detergents, so it’s necessary that a seal be installed and resealed frequently.

Stone Tile - a mix of granite, slate, marble, sandstone (and more).
Pros: Stone is a rich, one-of-a-kind style, ideal for your floors. Since it’s cut into thin, regular pieces, it costs less money - especially if you opt to add this tile type to your countertops as well. Granite can be expensive, so installing stone countertops is a smart option as well.
Cons: Be wary of damage from water exposure or acid. Because it can so easily be damaged, you’ll want to call your trusted tile cleaning experts for extra maintenance.

Which type of tile do you have in your home? Let us know on our Facebook page.

Still not sure which tile you like best? Call the textile specialists at Triple S for more tips. Are you already past the decision making process and need an expert cleaning? Nobody knows more about the care and maintenance of natural tile and stone than Triple S.

Top Reasons to Buy Carpet

Nothing beats the soft, sand-like feeling of carpet beneath your toes - not to mention the wide array of textures, colors, and patterns to fit the design and layout of your home. Not only does it look nice in your living space, but it also adds functionality. With that being said, we’ve compiled four of the top reasons you should buy carpet:

Added Warmth. Everyone knows that carpet is great for the cooler seasons. The last thing you want is to feel a cold hardwood textile under your feet. However, people may not realize that carpet is also an ideal option for summer! When you walk around the house in barefeet, you want that same comfort you get during other seasons.

Insulated sound. Not only does carpet keep your house warm, but it also provides sound insulation. By installing carpet in your entertainment space, you can mute the echoes of your surround sound system. The more layers, the better!

Easy replacement. Want flooring that is simple to replace? Opt for modular carpet. Unlike hardwood and tile, modular carpet tile can easily be swapped out for a new one. The beauty of modular carpeting is that if one block gets stained or torn, you don’t have to invest in an entirely new floor. Other durable, stain-resistant options include polyester and nylon.

Allergy relief. While hardwood allows dirt and allergens to go airborne, carpet absorbs it. And even though hard surfaces only require a little sweeping, you would need to clean daily to relieve your allergies. Carpeting, on the other hand, holds in those allergies until you simply vacuum it up.

There you have it - a textile that looks beautiful and functions well in any home. Need we say more?  If you’re still not convinced that carpeting is right for your space, call the cleaning specialists at Triple S. Tricks to Keeping Outdoor Cushions Fresh

Warmer weather is here, which means we’ll be spending more time outside, enjoying sunny afternoons and clear nights in our yards. Whether you’re relaxing on your outdoor swing or lounging poolside, make sure you keep your outdoor cushions fresh for the season! Here’s how:

Buy the right cushions. Buying the right outdoor cushions off the bat can save you money down the road. Durable fabrics like sunbrella and other acrylic fibers are durable for yard use, which is key to making your cushions looking fresh for seasons to come.

Do a 180 rotation. Want to fully extend the life of your cushions? Make it a habit to flip them once a week to prevent wear and tear. Because both sides of the fabric will be exposed to sunlight, the color will fade more consistently. Also, be wary of placing them close to fire pits as one spark can leave even a single hole, damaging the material.

Store them when not in use. Protect your cushions from tree sap, excessive sun, and rips if you know you won’t be using them for a while. Don’t wrap them in plastic! This will encourage mold to grow. To keep these cushions looking as fresh as possible, give us a call for storage!

Looking for optimal ways to keep your outdoor cushions fresh all season long? Call the experts at Triple S for our patio cushions cleaning! When you’re ready to store outdoor cushions after prolonged use this summer, we will thoroughly clean them and if desired, repair, mend or replace foam. We have three main plant locations:
