How to Pet Proof Your Home

For many of us, our pets are like our children. We love them unconditionally and spoil them every now and again. Even if your pet is timid, it’s important to pet proof your home the way you would for your kids. As a homeowner, it’s up to you how you plan to provide a safe environment for your beloved pet, but here are a few tips to get you started:

Kitchen
  • Place cleaning items on high shelves
  • Store food out of sight and out of reach
  • Keep pets out of the kitchen while cooking on the stovetop (especially if they can easily jump onto the counter)
Bathroom
  • Put medications and over-the-counter drugs in a medicine cabinet
  • Keep the toilet lid down to prevent pets from drinking the water
  • Keep trash bins out of reach so pets cannot get into the garbage
Living Room
  • Keep wires out of reach to prevent your furry friends from chewing on them
  • Make sure air vents have proper covers
  • Protect furnishings against accidents by choosing a solution like Proseal Fabric Protector
Yard
  • Keep sharp objects and tools in a place where pets cannot reach them
  • Check the fence for holes or gaps where they can possibly squeeze through
  • Make sure pets stay off the lawn if the gardeners laid down fertilizer or pesticides on the lawn

Tips for Cleaning Your Sofa

Between family gathering, pets, and kids, your sofa gets a lot of use, so it's important to keep it clean. Whether you’re looking to prolong the life of your upholstery or just freshen it up, there are a few steps you can take to make sure you’re using the proper methods.

Read instructions. Treat all of your upholstery with special care. The type of material your sofa is made of will determine which type of cleaning methods are safe to use (and which ones are not). So be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions before using any product, or test a small, unnoticeable spot to see whether or not a solution is well suited for the fabric.

Regularly clean fabric. Sofas stain easily, especially when they’re not in use. Before taking out any chemicals, remove dust by vacuuming, preferably with the upholstery attachment that comes with your vacuum. If you don’t own a working vacuum, you could also use a soft-bristled cleaning brush to loosen the dust and sweep it off.

Wipe down leather and vinyl. If you own a leather or vinyl sofa, wipe it down with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and stains. This is because vacuums do not work at well on this type of fabric, but you could also sweep with a small, dry broom.

Seal all fabrics. Once you’ve removed dust and stains from your upholstery, be sure to seal it with a ProSeal formula of fluoropolymers and co-polymers. In doing so, you can improve fade resistance, color fastness, and abrasion resistance in addition to resisting common spills.

At Triple S, we offer professional upholstery cleaning and Proseal Fabric Protector to take care of all your upholstery needs. We have three main plant locations:

Surprising Foods that Get Rid of Stains

Did you know that you can clean your home with foods you might already have the pantry or refrigerator? It’s true - before you head to the store for a bottled cleaner, consider these surprising foods that can get rid of all those greasy stains:

Lemons. Do you have a grimy microwave or stained linens? If so, use a lemon from the fridge! The citrus in lemons is strong and will clean your linens and polish your microwave with just a little less than one cup of it!

Rice. If you have a box of rice in your pantry, boil a cup and swish it around with some dish detergent. This is a great solution to clean the inside of your flower vases and other hard-to-reach spots.

Ketchup. Are you surprised? So are we! Believe it or not, this french fry dip can make your copper appliances and pots look new once again.

Lemon or orange drinks. Another effective solution to polish your appliances! The citric acid you find in these drinks can help get rid of any rust or stains you may have on your dishwasher.

Walnuts. Got scratches on your wood furniture? Don’t panic - simply remove the shell of a walnut and rub it on the wood to cover up any damage.

Vinegar. White vinegar in particular, is an extremely powerful cleaning tool. Not only can it freshen up your laundry, but it can also remove stains from your carpets and brighten up your windows!

Benefits of ProSeal Fabric Protector

Furniture can be expensive, and nothing ruins it faster than a wine or ketchup stain from your backyard barbecue. Protect your investment by using the Triple S ProSeal Fabric Protector!

Here are three ways it can benefit your indoor and outdoor cushions:

Protects against spills. Accidental spills happen, but that doesn’t mean they have to stain. The way the Triple S ProSeal system works is that it deeply penetrates the surface of textiles, providing improved fade resistance, color fastness, and abrasion resistance. Most importantly, it resists against those common accidents!

Defends fibers. ProSeal can defend fibers by creating a bonded seal that surrounds each individual fiber, which protects it from top to bottom! No more worrying about discoloration or texture changes from drinks and even stormy weather.

Preserves value and appearance. Because this fabric protector is absorbed so well and bonds fiber strands together, you can rest assured that it will survive accidents and rainfalls. From upholstery to oriental rugs and other textiles, such as velvet, suede, wool, silk, cotton, rayon, nylon, and bamboo, you can feel good knowing that all your favorite furnishings will be protected!
