5 Things You Are Cleaning Too Often

What if we told you that you were cleaning way too often?

That’s right; you don’t actually have to be cleaning every Sunday, all afternoon, to keep your home clean.

Here are 5 things you are probably cleaning too much.

Clothes

If most of your time is spent in the laundry room, you are most definitely cleaning your clothes too often. Unless you were sweating in them or were rolling around in mud, there’s no reason to wash your clothes if you haven’t worn them more than once.

Just think: Fewer laundry loads also means you’ll have extra free time and money to spend on your other bills.

Dirty dishes

You are wasting your time if you rinse dirty dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, so skip sink duty after you eat a meal!

Dishwasher detergent contains enzymes that attach themselves to food particles. When you wash the dirt and grime away, the detergent can’t cling to your dishes or silverware and it’ll just be wasted (not to mention all that water you’re wasting also!).

Bedspreads and Comforters

Unless you spend 24 hours in your bed or you have a lot of pets that do, you don’t need to wash your bedding weekly. Clean them at the end of every season instead.

Carpets and Upholstered Furniture

If you want to get a good, deep clean for your carpets and upholstered furniture, it’s best to call a professional. But don't forget, you really should be cleaning your carpets at least once a week.

Curtain and Drapes

These don’t need frequent cleaning — but you should at least give it a thorough cleaning once a year. If you are concerned about dust, take down the drapes and toss them in your dryer on the “air-only” cycle. This will remove the dust and even some wrinkles. (Don’t use heat, this will shrink fabrics!).

5 Tips to Help You Organize After a Move

It’s not easy to move. Sometimes, the stress makes you wonder why you went through this process in the first place.Even the most organized people are left feeling uneasy and overwhelmed.

We’ve found that the key to a successful move revolves around your packing and unpacking process.

Follow these 5 tips to help you stay organized after your move

1. Don’t wait until the last minute.

This will really help not stress you out. Setting a schedule will help you make sure everything gets done before you officially head out that door for good.

2. Label your boxes.

That’s why taking the time to label all of your boxes will save you a lot of time during your moving process. Besides, knowing where all your belongings are is also a huge weight off your shoulders. Don’t forget to also label boxes that are fragile!

3. Have a “necessities” box.

There are some things, like a coffee maker or pet food, that needs to stay out. So, instead of taping up the box and stacking it at the front door, leave a box of necessities open for you to easily grab items from.

4. Purge as you go.

Tossing out unnecessary items as you pack will help you pack less and be more organized. It’s a great feeling to get rid of unused items, and you can make yourself feel even better by donating these items to an organization or store in need.

5. Unpack in zones.

The best thing you can do once you move in is to unpack room by room. And this is when you start to see that your labels really paid off! You can carry each box into it’s assigned room and organize it without any trouble.

Once you’re finally all settled in, it’s time to start finding professionals to help around the house.
